Talk to your friends, neighbors, and co-workers. You'll find that they either play in the APA or know someone who does. It'll surprise you! Clerks, secretaries, janitors, lawyers, chiropractors, doctors, waitresses, truck drivers, bank tellers, and even school teachers ... all play pool in the APA Pool League. Over one fourth of APA members are female.
The APA is the World's Largest Amateur Pool League with more members than all other amateur leagues combined. Nationally, the APA currently boasts over 270,000 members (and growing).
ESPN highlights APA Charlotte Metro Sponsorship of #1 Ranked
WPBA Player Kelly Fisher and how she interacts with the APA Members.
Think you're not good enough to play in the APA? Consider this: 75% of APA members are beginner to intermediate players, meaning you don't have to be a Pool Pro to play. And with the APA's Equalizer® Handicap System everyone has a nearly equal chance of winning.
We have been offered a chance by the National Office to obtain more spots for Nationals in Vegas
If we can get 25 teams in any new type of division, 8 Ball or 9 Ball (other than regular weekly league play) that will get us the new spots.
Our ideas are.....
Senior Division, open to all men and women over the age of 50. This division would play 2 matches 1 Sunday a month for 10 months.
or
All Men Division, same format as above (could be a different day) but only open to Men.
If we get enough interest in either, we will start these divisions in August. If you have any thoughts on a type of division that may work, please let us know.
The WPBA will be having a satellite event at Borderline Billiards in Bristol, TN July 10-12. All of the top pros will be competing including our own Kelly Fisher. Below is a brochure for the event. There is pro-am event in conjunction with the tournament. If anyone is interested, Bristol is not that far away.
We will be holding a 9 Ball Scotch Doubles Qualifier.
Saturday July 11th at Smokin Cue, 10901 University City Blvd, Charlotte. Doors open at 11am, play begins at Noon. $80 entry per team. Maximum combined skill level of 10.
Pre-registration by phone is required 704-598-4555 (mon-thur 2-7) You must be on an active 9 ball team this session.
Winners will compete at the Nationals this August in Vegas.
